Japanese shikishi painting, postwar Showa period, c. 1930-50s.
Ink and light color on shikishi. A small figure with a red parasol on a bridge and a bird in flight appear as subtle details within a pale river landscape with distant mountains.
The restrained palette, extensive unpainted space, and light use of color place the work within the postwar continuation of Japanese sumi-e and ink-and-color painting.
A red artist seal is present in the lower left corner.
The painting is mounted in a vintage wooden frame with a wide textile mat and narrow gold-tone inner border.

Condition
Vintage condition. Visible foxing and spotting across the painting surface, together with age-related traces to the frame and textile mount. Please examine the photographs carefully. The photographs form part of the condition description.
