Original Japanese painting on shikishi by the artist Kasui, early to mid-Showa period.
The horse is painted in ink with a small amount of color in the sumi-e tradition. The work belongs to a series of horse paintings and drawings on shikishi.
Signed Kasui with a red artist seal in the lower part of the painting.
The shikishi is presented in a vintage Japanese shikishi frame of the traditional wide-mat type, made specifically for displaying standard-format shikishi. The frame has a broad textile-covered mat, a narrow gold-toned inner border, and a wooden outer frame. It forms a complete period-style presentation and is included with the painting.
Shikishi size: approx. 24 × 27 cm.
Frame size: approx. 42 × 45 cm.
