Daruma and Ensō – Ink on Shikishi, 1962 - Saitō Kan'ichi (Kōhō)

Original Japanese sumi-e painting in ink on traditional shikishi board, depicting Daruma (Bodhidharma) within a broad circular brushstroke recalling the Zen ensō.

Signed Kōhō and marked with a red artist seal. The inscription on the reverse dates the work to autumn 1962 (Shōwa 37) and identifies the artist as Saitō Kōhō, associated there with the Tosa school / tradition.
