Original Japanese oil painting on shikishi, created in 1941 during the early Showa period.

Kizaburo Ienaga (1906–1990) was a Japanese yōga painter whose career spanned the prewar and postwar Shōwa periods. He exhibited at Teiten, Bunten and Nitten, was closely associated with Tōkōkai, and later taught at Osaka University of Arts. His work includes oil landscapes, coastal views and still lifes, including paintings executed on traditional shikishi boards.

The reverse is inscribed by the artist with the title "Seto in Spring", the date Showa 16 (1941), his full name and artist seal. A red artist mark appears on the front.

Approximately 24 × 27 cm.

Condition

Antique condition. Traces of age and storage, including age-related craquelure, light surface wear and small marks along the edges.
