Peonies
Original antique Japanese ink and color painting on silk, mounted as a traditional hanging scroll (kakejiku), dating to approximately 1900–1930. Signed Seppō and attributed to Watanabe Seppō (1868–1949), a Japanese painter associated with the Nanga tradition.
The painting depicts flowering peonies, traditionally associated with prosperity, beauty, and good fortune in Japanese art. Delicate color washes and expressive ink brushwork capture the blossoms and foliage, creating an elegant botanical composition.
The work bears the signature Seppō and two red seals. The scroll's outer wrapping is inscribed Seppō Botan, meaning "Seppō — Peonies."

Period: c. 1900–1930, late Meiji to early Shōwa.
