Chiba Wako – Senkyaku Banrai – vintage Japanese business prosperity calligraphy on shikishi

$157.06

Shipping to United States: $14.38

Vintage Japanese ink calligraphy on shikishi from the Showa period. The main inscription, Senkyaku Banrai, expresses a wish for a continuous flow of guests and lasting prosperity, while the smaller inscription adds a joyful and celebratory note.

The work belongs to the secular tradition of engimono, auspicious objects associated with good fortune, hospitality, and successful beginnings. The composition combines this worldly wish for prosperity with a monastic inscription and artist seals. The original paper wrapper is preserved and identifies the calligrapher as Chiba Wako.
