Japanese artwork on shikishi combining sumi ink painting with large-scale calligraphy. Light washes and fine ink lines contrast with the bold black characters. The work is executed on a thick shikishi board.
Period: postwar Showa period, second half of the 20th century.
The shikishi bears an artist’s signature and a red seal. The artist has not been securely identified, so the work is offered as unattributed.
Condition
Vintage condition. Light toning of the board, small scattered marks, surface traces, and soft wear along the edges. Please review the photos carefully.
