$173.38

Shipping to United States: $14.23

Original vintage Japanese calligraphy on shikishi by Kosen Kimoto, dating to the Showa–Heisei period. The composition is centered on a large calligraphic character meaning “crane.” Its highly individual form approaches a pictographic representation of the bird.

The calligraphy is executed in ink on a circular white field, mounted within a gold-toned border with a floral pattern. The work is signed with the artist’s art name, Kosen, and bears two seals. The square seal corresponds to the artist’s name, while the small rectangular seal contains a traditional auspicious phrase meaning “good fortune and the fulfillment of wishes.”

The original paper wrapper is preserved and repeats the title, the Kosen signature, and the artist’s seal. The work is also accompanied by the artist’s biographical insert.
