Original Japanese woodblock print from the Meiji period, dated 1869.
The print shows cherry blossoms in full bloom at Mukojima, one of the well-known viewing places along the Sumida River in Tokyo. The composition includes flowering sakura trees, a yellow walking path, small figures of visitors, and a distant riverside landscape.
The work is attributed to Utagawa Hiroshige III and belongs to the series Famous Views of Tokyo. Museum records identify this design as Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom at Mukojima, published in 1869 by Hirano-ya Shinzo.
This is a vertical oban-format nishiki-e woodblock print, now trimmed to approx. 23 x 33 cm.
Condition
Antique condition. The print shows natural age-related wear, surface soiling, brown spotting, edge wear, trimming, and visible old insect traces with small losses and abrasions, especially along the right edge and in parts of the upper and lower areas.
The central composition remains clear, and the colors are still well preserved, including the pink cherry blossoms, yellow pathway, green landscape, and purple bokashi at the top. Please review the photos carefully.
