This book is a practical Japanese reference work on Kigaku, the modern Japanese system of directional divination connected with the Nine Star tradition. Its subject is the calculation of auspicious and inauspicious directions, personal stars, yearly and monthly directional influences, and related calendrical methods.

Sonoda Shinjiro was one of the central figures in the formation and transmission of modern Kigaku in the 20th century. This edition belongs to the Taishokan line connected with his school and was issued as a specialist reference book rather than ordinary popular reading.
