Japanese hanging scroll kakemono (kakejiku), presumably from the early to mid Showa period.
Executed in sumi ink, this is a restrained landscape composition with free brushwork, open space, and soft tonal transitions.
The manner is quiet and traditional, with a subtle affinity to wabi sabi aesthetics in its simplicity, slight incompleteness, and attention to the trace of the brush.
Signature and seal are present. Wooden jikusaki, the traditional end knobs of the lower scroll rod, are also present.
