Original Japanese illustrated woodblock-printed educational book, published in Edo in 1785 (Tenmei 5).

Teikin Orai Doji Kagami belongs to the tradition of oraimono, Japanese educational books used for teaching reading, writing, and practical knowledge during the Edo period.

Based on the celebrated medieval textbook Teikin Orai, the work presents model correspondence organized around the months of the year, introducing vocabulary, social customs, and subjects from everyday Japanese life.

This edition combines extensive examples of traditional Japanese cursive writing with woodblock illustrations depicting historical figures and scenes.

The original publication date, March 1785, and the name of the Edo publisher, Nishinomiya Shinroku, are recorded in the book's colophon.

The title and its 1785 publication are also documented in Japan's National Institute of Japanese Literature, Kokusho Database.
