Awakening from Sleep in Autumn.
Antique Japanese woodblock-printed poetry books.
Edo period, 1826.
Poetry by Ariga Chohaku (1661-1737).
Osaka edition.
Complete 2-volume set.

This antique Japanese edition is connected with the classical waka tradition and centers on poetic place names that carry established literary associations, seasonal nuance, and echoes of earlier verse within Japanese literary culture.

The textual history of this work can be traced at least to the early 18th century: an expanded version is documented by 1714, and the two-volume format appears in later editions as well. This set corresponds well to a compact late Edo two-volume edition.
