Vintage Shōwa Japanese ink calligraphy tanzaku – expressive brush character

Vintage Japanese tanzaku from the Shōwa period. A vertical calligraphic composition executed in ink with energetic brushwork. The work is created on a thin decorative art board with gold flecks and sparkling inclusions typical of Japanese artistic supports of the Shōwa period. A large calligraphic character is rendered in bold brush strokes. An artist’s seal is present.

Included with the piece is a vintage Shōwa wooden display shelf suitable for vertical presentation.

The tanzaku measures approximately 6 × 36 cm.
