An antique Japanese calligraphic scroll from the late Edo period (18th–19th century), executed in ink on traditional paper in the vertical kakemono (kakejiku) format. The composition features a large introductory calligraphic section followed by a dense field of finely written text, characteristic of Edo-period calligraphic scrolls.
The work retains its traditional mounting with original fabrics and a wooden roller. The paper and calligraphy remain intact. Natural signs of age are visible across the surface, including tonal changes to the paper, darkening of fabrics, aged pigments, and marks consistent with long-term storage typical of Edo-period scrolls.
A wooden storage box with handwritten designation is included. All components correspond to the materials and techniques of its historical period.
Style note
Traditional Japanese calligraphy of the Edo period in a hanging scroll format.
