An original Japanese woodblock print on handmade washi, later mounted on thin board for preservation. This work belongs to the small-format private surimono produced in the late Edo period for poetic and artistic circles.
The composition shows a small walking traveller rendered in the haiga manner, accompanied by a short poetic text written in free cursive script. Such prints combined image and verse and circulated as private gifts, seasonal greetings, and poetic exchanges.
The character of the lines and the light colour passages indicate traditional woodblock printing. The later mounting on thin board follows the common preservation practice for small graphic sheets. The style of the figure and the spontaneous calligraphy correspond to the Buson-influenced haiga tradition, though the author remains unidentified.
Condition: good antique condition; natural signs of age, with the printed surface preserved.
Dimensions: approx. 21 × 24 cm.
