Original Japanese shikishi painting in a Zen style.
The front shows a brush-painted image of Daruma, executed with free and expressive ink strokes. Inside the circular brush line is a short Zen phrase conveying the idea of inner harmony and respectful presence. This type of composition is characteristic of mid–late Shōwa era Zen calligraphy.
The set includes:
— the original presentation folder,
— a separate explanatory sheet with a written interpretation of the phrase.
Such sets were commonly prepared as gift items and reflect the traditional way these works were presented and stored.
The shikishi bears the artist’s seals and a short handwritten signature in hiragana. The seals on the folder correspond to those on the painting.
