Vintage Japanese shikishi coastal landscape, Shōwa period

Original Japanese shikishi painting from the Shōwa period.
The front shows a quiet coastal landscape: a leaning tree in the foreground, a light shoreline and a distant horizon rendered in soft, atmospheric brushwork. Ink and colour on traditional shikishi board.

The reverse carries a handwritten dedication dated 1 September 1972. Such inscriptions were typically added by the person presenting the gift and form part of the object’s history. The painting itself is original; the reverse was used to mark the occasion of presentation.
