Antique Japanese surimono from the late Edo period, printed as a woodblock on handmade washi and later mounted on thin board for preservation.
The image shows a hanging lantern (tsuri dōrō) paired with a short poetic verse written in free cursive script. This type of surimono functioned as a gift print in the Edo era, combining an illustration with a poem for private exchange and seasonal greetings.
Although not Zen in origin, the quiet lantern motif and the gentle tone of the verse make the print suitable for a contemplative setting.
Condition: good antique condition; natural signs of age, with the printed surface preserved.
Dimensions approx. 21 × 24 cm.
Attribution: anonymous Edo-period surimono.
