Vintage Japanese double-sided shikishi with two ink-and-wash horse studies, created in the early–mid Shōwa period.
The front side shows a lively study of a horse raising its foreleg, with soft washes shaping the body and brisk sumi lines defining motion and posture.
The reverse presents a more monochrome, calligraphic study: a sharply turning horse rendered with sweeping strokes and simplified forms.
Both drawings reflect Shōwa-era academic studio practice, focusing on gesture, posture, rhythm and economy of line.
No signature or seals.
