Japanese ink and light color on paper depicting a seated Heian-style poet under a willow tree with an accompanying poem about the evening moon:
“Evening moon, play a little — an old song.” (Interpretative translation)
The composition unites painting and calligraphy in the haiga tradition — spontaneous, poetic, and contemplative. The brushwork shows a free, confident hand, characteristic of the mid-Shōwa poetic ink style.
The scroll bears the artist’s signature and a red seal in the lower right corner.
Condition: natural signs of age and gentle folds in paper fibers from storage. No restoration — preserved in its original condition and with respect for age.
Dimensions: approx. 25 × 181 cm.
Safe and tracked shipping from Latvia (Riga Gallery of Japanese Art CloudyYokomido).
