Antique Japanese woodblock print from the Meiji period (1882), created by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839–1892) as part of the album series Yoshitoshi ryakuga. The sheet follows the original structure of the series, with two independent chuban compositions printed together on a single vertical sheet.
Executed in multi-color nishiki-e on thin washi paper. The sheet bears the artist’s signature and seal consistent with Yoshitoshi’s late period. The reverse shows natural pigment transfer characteristic of hand-printed Meiji-era editions.
Outer margins are slightly reduced, without affecting the printed image. The pictorial field is fully preserved. This particular configuration, including the Jigoku Dayu scene within the Yoshitoshi ryakuga series, is considered uncommon and is represented in several museum collections.
Style note
Japanese woodblock print (nishiki-e), double chuban album format.
