A charming haiga on a traditional shikishi board: a small yellow blossom (likely nanohana, a classic spring kigo) accompanied by a poetic inscription that calls out 初春 (Hatsuharu, “early spring”) and plays on the word 縁 / en (“edge” and “bond”).
Ink and opaque color on factory‑made shikishi with gold edging, Showa period (ca. 1955–1975).
Signed with a small artist’s red seal in the lower left; the one‑character signature above the seal appears to be an art‑name (gō), yet to be fully deciphered (we’ll be happy to share research notes).
Size approx. 24 × 27 cm (9.5 × 10.75 in). Visible foxing consistent with age; presents well in a frame.
