Vintage Shōwa Japanese watercolor on shikishi board – Winter landscape

A Japanese work from the Shōwa era, executed in watercolor on a standard shikishi board. The scene shows a winter landscape with terraced fields, waterways and small rural buildings, characteristic of northern regions of Japan. A Latin-script signature is present in the lower right; a possible reading is S. Hikawa, but the attribution remains preliminary.

The composition is built with broad, quick brush movements, combining muted tones with blue water accents. The work reflects the yōga approach in mid-20th-century Japanese painting.
