Vintage Japanese Shikishi – “Rose & Calligraphy” by Junpō (順芳画), ca. 1960s

A charming original hand-painted shikishi board (24×27 cm) featuring a delicately rendered rose in soft pink tones against a poetic calligraphy background. Signed Junpō (順芳) with a traditional red seal (周).

This work belongs to the Shōwa era (1950–70s), a time when Japanese artists blended nihonga traditions with modern sensibility. The board itself has the classic gold border and subtle fiber inclusions, characteristic of mid-20th century shikishi used for poetry and seasonal art.
