This is a hand-copied version of the Heart Sutra, one of the most profound and widely respected texts in Mahayana Buddhism. The central line, "Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, practicing the profound Prajñāpāramitā...", is boldly highlighted in larger characters.
Signed in the lower left corner as 「しんかい 謹誌」(respectfully copied by Shinkai), likely a Buddhist monk or practitioner.
No seal present, as typical for devotional transcriptions.
Calligraphy is executed in precise, steady kaisho script using black ink on washi-style paper mounted on a traditional shikishi board. The material shows natural aging, and the style suggests mid-to-late Shōwa period (1950s–1980s).
A beautiful piece for collectors of Japanese calligraphy or Buddhist art.
