This is an authentic antique Japanese scroll (makemono) written in beautiful cursive calligraphy (sōsho) on traditional handmade washi paper. Measuring approx. 31 cm x 475 cm, this unique piece likely dates back to the late Edo Period (17th–19th century) and represents a historical document related to village agreements, tax contributions, or land obligations.
The scroll includes original brush ink text with clear references to local villages, forestry (cedar trees), and collective duties, featuring signatures of local contributors. The signature reads “Chima Kifunin Kashima-mae” indicating a donor or representative.
