Hand-painted ink on handmade washi, mounted on golden kinran brocade, vertical hanging scroll (kakejiku).

Dated to spring 1948 (Shōwa 23, year of Tsuchinoe-ne).
Signed Senzan Dōjin (洗山道人) with his red seal Senzan-in (洗山印).

The calligraphy reads:
“Peach and chestnut take three years,
Persimmon eight,
Nine years facing the wall,
A voice like thunder.”

A Zen poetic reflection on patience and awakening — a reference to Bodhidharma’s nine-year meditation before the wall.
Executed in fluid gyōsho semi-cursive style with bold, expressive brushwork.
Condition: good for its age; light natural toning and minor marks of time.
