Sorry, this item has sold.

Antique Japanese tanzaku from the Taisho–early Showa period (approximately 1915–1935). A vertical panel painted in the nihonga tradition, showing an autumn kachoga composition with a small bird on a stalk of susuki grass and seasonal flowers below. Soft mineral pigments and gentle gofun highlights reflect early 20th-century decorative style. A signature and seal are present.

The artwork is mounted on its original hard tanzaku board. The reverse carries an original Japanese shop label typical for early 20th-century retail practice, supporting the dating to the Taisho–early Showa era.

Included with the work is a vintage late-Showa wooden display shelf, suitable for vertical presentation. This shelf is a later addition and does not belong to the period of creation.

The tanzaku measures approximately 6 × 36 cm.

Condition
Good antique condition with natural signs of age typical for early 20th-century paper and pigments. No restoration; preserved in its natural state with respect for its age.

Style note
Early 20th-century decorative nihonga with seasonal autumn kachoga elements.
