A majestic rooster and hen stand beneath blooming peonies and rugged rocks, rendered in rich mineral pigments on silk. The scroll bears the artist’s signature 雪峯 (Seppou / Yukimine) and two red seals, dated 己卯 (1859), from the late Edo period.

The style is characteristic of the Maruyama-Shijo school, known for its naturalistic depiction of flora and fauna with refined brushwork and delicate color gradation. The work has been beautifully remounted on a new scroll backing, preserving the original painting while ensuring its durability for display.
