This original Japanese landscape painting, signed Kōkū (光空 — likely an art‑name / gō), dates from the late Taishō to early Shōwa era (circa 1920s‑1930s).
Painted in a refined nihonga style, the work reflects influences of the Shijō school with its naturalistic approach and soft brushwork, and hints of Rinpa aesthetics in its fluid composition. The scene depicts a thatched hut by the water, framed by bamboo and distant hills, rendered in calm blue and earthy tones.
The painting is mounted on sturdy cardboard; aged foxing marks confirm its authenticity and age. The artist applied two personal red seals ("hanko") — the larger reading 光空印 and a smaller secondary seal — typical for nihonga painters of the period.
