Vintage Taishō–Shōwa Japanese ink and color shikishi – Winter path

This is a Japanese shikishi with a winter mountain landscape, created in the Taishō–Shōwa period. The work is executed in ink with a light color wash. The composition shows a quiet snow slope with a bare tree in the foreground, and a traveler with a small animal following a trail of footprints. The scene follows the tradition of intimate seasonal landscape painting. The artwork bears an author’s signature and two red seals.
