Minimalist Japanese ink painting on a traditional shikishi board, depicting three wandering monks climbing toward a mountain temple.
The inscription reads: “Travellers to the mountain temple – Sea and Moon Verse”, ending with the artist’s name Sajū (沙集), a Zen art name.
Two seals appear: Kaigetsu (“Sea Moon”) and Sajū, confirming the signature.
Executed in the Zen suiboku style – free, expressive brushwork that leaves much to the imagination, in the tradition of ink paintings from temple schools.

Medium: Ink on shikishi cardboard (gold-flecked backing, natural aging spots)
