A delicate antique Japanese shikishi (色紙) featuring bright yellow Adonis flowers (福寿草 fukuju-sō), the traditional herald of spring in Japan.
Signed 文之筆 “Bun no Hitsu” – meaning “work of Bun’s brush” – and stamped with the red seal 文之章 “seal of Bun”. The name Bun is most likely the artist’s art-name (gō).
Executed in the Nihonga tradition with influences of the Shijō school, combining refined brushwork and soft color washes on classic shikishi board (approx. 24×27 cm).
This piece dates from the Taishō to early Shōwa period (c. 1910–1940s) and carries the charm of age with natural foxing that adds to its authentic wabi-sabi aesthetic.
✨ Perfect for collectors of Japanese art, kachō-ga (flowers & birds), or lovers of seasonal imagery.
