A vintage Japanese shikishi created in a washi-collage technique. The red elements depict stylised hanging plant forms, with an upper shape reminiscent of dried persimmons (hoshigaki) or other seasonal pods. Each form is constructed from torn coloured washi, with vertical lines and pastel fragments added as collage. The calligraphic line is written in a soft, free hand; an author’s seal appears in the lower left corner. The surface shows natural toning and gentle age patterns typical of vintage washi.
Meaning note (interpretative)
The written line reflects a quiet idea about smallness and presence:
“Small things exist in their own way and make themselves quietly felt.”
Style note
Free cursive calligraphy between gyōsho and sōsho.
Condition
Good vintage condition. Vintage works may show natural signs of age (light toning, small fiber creases, gentle edge wear), so please review the photos carefully.
