This elegant Japanese shikishi board features a delicate ink and watercolor painting of blooming pink flowers, likely a spring-blooming wild rose or quince, symbolizing purity and the fleeting nature of beauty (mono no aware). The brushwork follows the expressive tradition of sumi-e, blending soft tonal washes with confident linework. The painting is unsigned, but the handwritten dedication on the reverse dates it to October 23, 1969, in Minato Ward, Tokyo, possibly a gift or personal creation by an artist named Satō Chihiro.
Executed on traditional shikishi board with a gold rim and subtle mica flecks on the reverse side, this piece is a graceful example of mid-Showa era floral art in the kachō-ga genre.
