An evocative original Japanese shikishi painting (24×27 cm), created in 1941 (Shōwa 16) by Ienaga Eizaburō (家永瑛三郎) – a rare artist of the early Shōwa era, signing his works with the art-name Katsu (克).
This work depicts a tranquil view of the Seto Inland Sea in spring – fishing boats floating in the mist, islands fading into the horizon, and bold tree branches framing the scene.
Painted in oil on traditional shikishi board, this piece beautifully merges Western yōga brushwork with the spirit of Japanese fūkei‑ga (landscape art). The reverse side bears the artist’s inscription with the date and a red seal.
A unique collector’s find – perfect for lovers of Japanese art, Shōwa aesthetics, and the rare fusion of oil technique on shikishi.
