$288.73

Shipping to United States: Free

A rare Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku) featuring authentic Zen calligraphy.
The inscription reads:

“Spring night wind, fourteen mon, servant of the tea hut, tea and flowers as they naturally are.”
This phrase reflects classic Zen and wabi-sabi aesthetics: simplicity, impermanence, and harmony with nature.
The lower section includes an original ink drawing of a teapot in spontaneous brush style (hatsuboku).

Authenticity & Style:
Hand-painted ink on traditional washi paper.
Written in a semi-cursive (gyōsho) style with cursive (sōsho) elements, typical for Zen monks and Sencha-do tea masters.
Estimated period: Late Edo to early Meiji.
Signature and seal: Monastic-style signature “名明” with personal red seal; stylistically comparable to followers of Baisaō and the Chadō (Way of Tea) schools.

Dimensions:
Full scroll size: 39 cm (width) x 110 cm (height)
Calligraphy panel: approx. 35 x 35 cm

Authentic natural patina on the paper and brocade border, consistent with genuine Edo-era scrolls.

Ready to display or add to a Zen art collection.

Perfect for:
✔ Collectors of Japanese Zenga, tea ceremony art, or Zen Buddhist calligraphy
✔ Wabi-sabi, minimalistic, or Japandi interiors
✔ Decorating a tea room or meditation space
