This is an authentic Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku) featuring a powerful Zen calligraphy of the auspicious kanji 瑞祥 (Zui-shō), which means “Good Omen” or “Auspicious Sign.” The work is executed in bold sumi ink on traditional washi paper, using the expressive dry brush technique (kasure-fude) characteristic of Japanese Zen calligraphy.
The piece is signed by a 90-year-old master under the pseudonym 羊前仲 (Yō Maenaka), whose seal is stamped in traditional red ink. Such scrolls are traditionally displayed in tea rooms, guest spaces, or meditation areas to invite prosperity and good fortune.
This original artwork dates to the mid-to-late Showa era (20th century) and remains in good condition for its age, with natural signs of handling that enhance its wabi-sabi charm. It will add a serene and authentic touch of Japanese culture to your interior.
Approximate dimensions: 67 x 187 cm (including mounting).
